We went out tonight with Aaron and Laura. It has been a week since we have seen her (she actually has a job) so the two of them stopped by for some pool time before going out.
There is a local bar called the HotSpot - it's in a cave! We've never seen anything like it.
Normally, you never see a tourist there. It's a spot for locals and for the staff of all the resorts to go - kind of 'elitist' I guess. We were told that on the resorts, the guides will tell you it is 'not safe' to go around town at night. It is also clear that they only recommend bars, excursions, or activities in which the resort gets a kick back. There are 2 girls that own HotSpot. Austrian, and yes, they are a couple :). It's a pretty popular spot with the Dominicans and with the resort staff - so there is not need for them to look for kick backs... they are busy enough. - Brad
